Potential for a Federal Government Shutdown

Hello,

With the September 30th deadline for Congress to pass crucial funding bills just days away, the potential for a federal government shutdown is real. Amid this uncertainty, there are a few things that contractors can do to be prepared.

  1. Review your contracting agency’s guidance to understand their specific plans. The Department of Defense, for instance, has recently issued new guidance.
  2. Work with your contracting officer to create a plan for contract performance.
  3. Expect payment delays and other disruptions to performance.
  4. Closely track any increased costs associated with coping with the shutdown. Depending on your contract type, these should be recoverable.

Our team will continue to monitor the situation and I am available to answer your questions directly at any time.

Sincerely,
