Proposal Manager

Summary:

  • Collaborate with sales/capture managers in managing, directing, and troubleshooting all proposal efforts
  • Schedule and prepare meetings and updates for clients
  • Write content in support of external client sales goals

Pay: $50,000.00 - $63,000.00 per year

Work Location: Grand Rapids (Virtual work occasionally)

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in writing or English, public policy, business, or related field
  • 3-5+ years’ experience in writing and project management
  • Proven ability to write compelling proposal narrative from scratch
  • Competent project manager who is very detail-oriented especially in a highly deadline driven environment
  • Critical thinker who gets excited about using information to answer strategic questions
  • Strong customer service mindset with a desire to impress
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to work well either alone or as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and technology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • APMP Certification

Responsibilities: 

Proposal Management

  • Collaborate with Sales/Capture Managers in managing, directing, and troubleshooting all proposal efforts
  • Schedule, prepare agenda and lead proposal related meetings with clients
  • Participate in the development and review of proposal strategies and themes
  • Direct the creation and review of a proposal outline that will be used as a key document design and control medium
  • Assist in analyzing solicitation requirements against the proposal outline to ensure both compliance and responsiveness to the client’s issues and needs
  • Build proposal compliance matrix if required and track the fulfillment of all requirements
  • Audit completed proposal sections to ensure requirements are adequately addressed and customer page limits are not exceeded
  • Conduct regular proposal progress status meetings and maintain the proposal schedule
  • Manage internal color reviews for evaluation of the technical, management, and overall proposal approaches
  • Ensure inter-volume compatibility is achieved
  • Coordinate timely creation and submission of questions through Sales/Capture Manager or client
  • Evaluate client library and supports updates
  • Conduct bid autopsy sessions as needed and provide corrective feedback or action if required
  • Anticipate and communicate potential risks as appropriate on specific business and/or process-related issues relating to proposals
  • Effectively coordinate the department operations to ensure that assigned programs are completed according to specifications, budgets, and timelines
  • Participate in client-facing activities

Technical Writing

  • Write clear and persuasive content in a deadline-driven environment for competitive proposals in support of external client sales goals
  • Read, review, and dissect complex solicitation to determine scope and requirements
  • Organize and analyze information, specifications, and quotations in accordance with Proposal Management processes and solicitation requirements
  • Incorporate color review revisions
  • Oversee assembly of final bid response
  • Incorporate win themes and differentiators in bid response
  • Draft contract compliance tools (contract compliance matrix, administration summary, etc.)
  • Draft government support materials (capabilities statements, government web-page content, etc.)
  • Build and manage writing indexes
